Join poets Celia de Fréine, Luke Morgan, Helena Nolan and Maureen Boyle for this reading in the elegant surroundings of the NLI’s hall.

About this event

The poets will read from their new collections and speak about the inspiration behind these new collections

Celia de Fréine writes in many genres in Irish and English. Awards for her poetry include the Patrick Kavanagh Award and Gradam Litríochta Chló Iar-Chonnacht. Léaslíne a Lorg : In Search of a Horizon, her tenth collection of poetry, explores lockdown during the first wave of Covid 19.

Maureen Boyle lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She began writing as a child in Sion Mills, County Tyrone, winning a UNESCO medal for a book of poems in 1979 at the age of eighteen. She studied in Trinity College, Dublin. Maureen will read from her new collection The Last Spring of the World published in June 2022.

Helena Nolan won the Patrick Kavanagh Award for Poetry. She serves as the Consul General of Ireland in New York, with responsibility for the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Luke Morgan's second collection Beast is new from Arlen House in 2022, and in the words of Victoria Kennefick, is "an astonishly original exploration of the wildness that exists within us".
