 PPI Summer School – 14th & 15th June 2018 

Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) in health research: Giving people a voice

This Summer School is designed for individuals who wish to develop their knowledge and access resources for meaningful Public and Patient Involvement in health research.  We welcome participation from community organisations, patient groups, researchers, students, health service providers and policy makers. 

Thursday 14th June - Day 1 Programme

10.00 - 10.15am: Welcome address 
Prof. Anne MacFarlane, Professor of Primary Healthcare Research and Academic Lead of the Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) Research Unit

10.15 -11.00am Keynote 1: Participatory Health Research Fosters Ownership in PPI 
Jon Salsberg, Senior Lecturer in Primary Healthcare Research – Public & Patient Involvement

11.00 - 11.30am  Tea/Coffee break

11.30 - 1.30pm  Parallel Sessions 1:

  • Finding Research Partners
  • Participatory Learning and Action research strategies for co-generating and analysing data
  • Ethics, Governance and Partnership Agreements

1.30 - 2.30pm  Lunch

2.30 - 4.30pm Parallel Sessions 2:

  • Dilemma Café – Exploring key questions in PPI practice
  • Collaborative Research Grant Development
  • Dissemination Planning with Partners

5.00 – 7.00pm Summer School BBQ Castletroy Park Hotel

12.00 - 12.45pm Keynote 2:
Panel Discussion: Building Capacity for Participatory Health Research among Patients and the Public

Limited bursaries available to support participation of people involved with community organisations and patient groups.  Bursaries allocated on a first come first serve basis and will be allocated by 24th May.  Please email hri@ul.ie for a bursary.
