‘Practical Ideas for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in the Classroom Course’ presented by The Speech and Language Therapy Department in the Central Remedial Clinic.




Date: Tuesday 27th August 2019

Time: 9.30 - 4.30pm (Registration from 9 – 9.30)

Venue: Central Remedial Clinic Clontarf, Dublin


Target Audience:

Speech and Language Therapists, Teachers, Psychologists, SNA’S, Parents, Carers or other Educational Professionals.


Course Aims and Objectives:

This is a 1-day course aimed at the above target audience working with school age children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication i.e. Lamh Sign Language, Communication Boards and Voice Output Communication Devices.

Content includes;

-Overview of AAC

-Collaborative team and carer working

-Modelling of AAC systems

-Creating opportunities for AAC use in the classroom and school environment

-Adapting lesson plans for inclusion of AAC users

-Demonstrations of different AAC systems

-Social Inclusion

-Making AAC systems accessible and available

-Literacy and AAC

-Lámh in the classroom

-Information about AAC resources
