Event description
A gentle pre-natal Pilates class designed to relieve tension, strengthen and relax. Suitable for beginners, in the 2nd and 3rd trimester.

About this Event

Class is designed to relax the body, mind and baby, with Pilates followed by a short meditation, chat and refreshments. The class is approximately 50 mins in total.

This is a small group class and is suitable for beginners in the second and third trimester - you can start even if you didn’t exercise before you were pregnant. You must be at least 12 weeks gestation and have GP approval to exercise.

The classes are on a Tuesday at 6:15pm. This is a 6 week term, starting 21 April 2020 The cost of the 6 weeks is 80 euro - 10 euro deposit to secure your place with the balance due at the first class.

What are the benefits of pre-natal Pilates?

  • Relieve back and pelvic pain
  • Increase blood flow and help reduce oedema
  • Strengthen your core and pelvic floor muscles
  • Build key post-natal muscles for holding and feeding baby
  • Relieves stress and body tension through breathing and meditation
  • Opportunity to meet and chat with other mums to be
  • Meet and chat with other pre-natal women

What do I need to bring to the class?

For hygiene reasons, please bring your own gym mat. I will provide you with a thick mat to go under it. Please wear socks with grips to prevent slips - you can also purchase these at the studio (19 euro). You should bring water and a pillow for comfort. Make sure you wear comfortable clothing (leggings and tshirt are fine) and a good bra if you need it - although there is no impact to the exercises in this class.

Do I need Pilates experience?

Absolutely not - we focus on movement - stretching what's tight and strengthening weaknesses. without complicated moves. These are small group classes (maximum of 10) so you will get plenty of attention, help and support.

Can I do the class in the last few weeks of pregnancy?

Yes - I have had women up to 39 weeks, and we've even had a baby born just 2 days after class. In the later weeks I encourage you to do what you can within your comfort zone, again focussing on movement, relieving and preventing tension and tightness and preparing yourself for birth.

What happens after the Pilates?

We turn out the lights, lay down and do a short body scan meditation. I provide you with a warm towelette and some fruit or dark chocolate. The movement and relaxation gives you a wonderful sense of wellbeing, you'll leave the class feeling refreshed and should sleep well that night!

What about the Coronavirus?

For hygiene reasons, I require you to bring your own mat. Hand sanitiser is available to use at each at my venues, and I ask that you use it as you enter the room and again as you leave the room.

My classes are not mass gatherings and are limited to between 10 people.

I will follow local authority advice on class cancellations and if cancellation is necessary, you will be issued with a catch up class or a refund for any unused classes.
