About this event
Swim For A Mile programme runs annually, starting in January, and involves12 weeks of training, followed by a timed mile or a half-mile swim. You have the option of training in your own time, or registering for SFAM coached sessions at one of the SFAM associated pools.
The programme progresses participants from being able to swim 2 lengths of a swimming pool, to completing a full mile. (Date of the Swim for a Mile Finale Event to be confirmed at a later date).
Swim Ireland coaches have written swimming programmes that will enable those who can swim a little to swim a mile in just 12 weeks.
Swim Ireland programme aims to get adults and children, from age 12, back in the pool and swimming regularly. The event is aimed at anyone who can swim at least 2 lengths of a 25m pool.
N.B SFAM is Not for beginners.
The official Swim for a Mile challenge will be announced later in the year.

FAQ's
Where and when do the events take place?
Heated outdoor and indoor pools across Ireland will host the Swim For A Mile timed events in 2022. The times of the events will vary at each pool and will be broken into time slots. You will be asked to select an event venue and time slot upon registration.
What age do I have to be to enter the event? The Swim For A Mile Challenge is open to those aged 12 and over only.
Is the event for competitive swimmers only? No, quite the opposite. The event is for anyone who can swim at least 2 lengths of a 25m swimming pool during a session. However, the event is not intended for beginners who require lessons.
