Description

Kommunity Builders Presents Queen for a day 2018. The purpose for Queen For a Day is an opportunity for young women across the state of Mississippi to be uplifted and empowered by women who have made many achievements in the world of academic, social justice, technology and media. Attendees will be entertained by local artist, presentations, vendors and a delicious lunch. This event is welcomed to young women of all ages, specifically ages 11-20. Church groups, organizations and individuals are welcomed to join this occasion. This event is absolutely FREE for our Queens and $10 for adults.

Each attendee (under 20 yrs old) will receive full sized products from Curls!

The event is hosted by Actress, Model and Host of her web show, LeCourtney Harness.

The morning keynote speaker is Miss Black Mississippi USA 2018, Ashley Griffin. Ashley Griffin is from Greenwood, Ms, and is the proud daughter of Annette Griffin. Ashley serves her state as Miss Black Mississippi USA 2018. Ashley is Biology and Chemistry double major at Delta State University. At Delta State, she holds many leadership positions in many organizations. One is being President of the Student Government Association. She is a member of several honor societies and her university dance team. She served as Omicron Psi's Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity INC. Miss Black and Gold for two consecutive years. In her hometown, She is a lifetime Girl Scout of Troop 30093 and a member of Beautiful Zion Chapter 19 of the Order of Eastern Star. She previously made history as Greenwood's Miss Hospitality first African American title holder in 2015. Ashley’s personal platform as Miss Black Mississippi USA 2018 is Don’t Forget Those Who Can’t Remember which advocates for Alzheimer’s Awareness. There are three components to my platform: engagement, education, and fundraising.

The luncheon speaker for this occasion is Sheena Allen, entrepreneur and Co-Founder of Capway. She is a proud alumnus of the University of Southern Mississippi. During her attendance at USM, she designed her own application called Sheena Allen apps. Kommunity Builders is proud to have Ms Allen to travel back to her homestate to empower the attendees during the iTalkTechnology session of the Queen For a Day Conference.
