Discover the evolution of Rathmines from an important medieval rath to a bustling township.

About this event

Rathmines is the second of the Irish Historic Towns Atlas, Dublin suburbs series to be published. In this online lecture, author Séamas Ó Maitiú will guide attendees through the history of Rathmines with numerous historic and modern illustrations of the township.

About the author: Dr Séamas Ó Maitiú grew up in and has a long association with Rathmines. He is a lecturer and writer, is editor of the Dublin Historical Record and his book Dublin’s Suburban Towns, 1834 to 1930 (2003) is considered a core source for anyone interested in the history of the greater Dublin area.
