Event description

Description

As part of a series of events sponsored by the Trinity Long Room Hub (https://www.tcd.ie/trinitylongroomhub/whats-on/) commemorating the 50th anniversary of 1968, a screening of Rocky Road to Dublin will be held in the Mairtin Uí Cadháin Theatre (Arts Block). This will be preceded by the documentary Making of the Rocky Road to Dublin, and followed by a Q & A with Dr Carole Holohan (Department of History, TCD) and Dr Rosie Lavan (School of English, TCD).

The last film shown at the Cannes Festival in 1968 before it was interrupted by protest, Rocky Road to Dublin examines the contemporary state of the Republic of Ireland. It was directed by Irish-born journalist Peter Lennon and filmed by French cinematographer Raoul Coutard.

This event is supported by the Trinity Long Room Hub under the Making Ireland and Identities in Transformation research themes, the Embassy of France in Dublin, the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (TCD) and the Irish Film Institute.
