Event description

Description

As part of the engagement programme for the "Voices of Memory" installation by Christina Kubisch, commissioned by the Goethe-Institut Irland and Dublin City Council this talk explores the lives of some of the thousands of Dublin men who left to fight in the war. Drawing on Cathy Scuffil’s extensive research across Europe as well as on the “Voices of Memory” sound installation by the internationally renowned artist, Christina Kubisch, this talk focuses on the stories behind the voices. Catherine Scuffil is Historian in Residence, Dublin City Council and this event forms part of the Dublin Festival of History 2018.

Attendance is free, however, registration is essential as seating is limited.

The Voices Of Memory sound installation is located along the banks of the River Liffey in the Irish National Memorial Gardens, Islandbridge, Dublin and was inspired by the over 49,000 people from Irish regiments who died in the First World War. Supported by the OPW, it is open on a daily basis until November 2018.
