Description

Work in progress....... Our last Big Party was amazing!! We are getting details together for our next one he BigParty2 CELEBRATING 17 YEARS TOGETHER!!

Expats living in Rome was founded in 2001 by Patrizia Di Gregorio

About the founder
Patrizia Di Gregorio was born in southern Italy and immigrated to the US at age 1 with her parents and 4 older siblings. Her parent's intentions were to return to Italy when Patrizia finished high school, unfortunately the sudden death of her mother changed those plans and her father decided to remain in the US. He struggled raising 6 kids on his own and did not get his children US citizenship. Decades later immigration laws changed and Patrizia was deported to Rome, Italy with literally nothing!! She had $150 US dollars in her pocket, her clothes on her back and letters her children wrote when she was in immigration holding waiting for deportation. She had no ID to get money sent to her. No smartphone to help her navigate and Internet was new to most of the world.

She was homeless for 1 year and networked from day 1. Today she is loved in our community for all the work she has done helping Expats living in Rome

She has also won her case after 13 year battle to reunite with her ill father and 2 children. Her father that was not able to travel anymore was afraid he not see his youngest daughter again. For 13 years her father would ask "Will I see you before I die" and she responded "Don't die till you see me." Patrizia won before he passed.

We are all patiently waiting for Patrizia to write her book!! If you have any questions just ask on the event wall here and she will answer. She also organizes private events where she talks about her life. If you like to be invited sign email us at info@expatslviinginrome.com (Subject: Patrizia's Story)
