Basic Awareness Workshop in Child Welfare & Protection (SafeGuarding1)

This is a 3 hour course, looking at how we can keep adults and young people safe and happy within the club environment.

This course is open to sports leaders, coaches, parents, children's officers and other adults involved in the organisation of sport for young people and are affiliated to a National Governing Body (NGB). This module will help to create and maintain a safe and fun environment for young people within the sports club or organisation. As well as undertaking child protection training, all governing bodies of sport and related organisations should adopt child protection policies and procedures as outlined in the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children's Sport.

Attendees must be over 18 years of age. Attendees must be a member of a Sports Club that is affiliated to a National Governing Body of Sport (NGB)

The GAA policy surrounding the Safeguarding Course has altered. Whilst the GAA does recognise the generic course delivered by Local Sports Partnerships, the GAA have advised that all coaches within GAA (Camogie, Hurling, Football, Handball) MUST complete the GAA Safeguarding 1, 2 and 3 course.
