Description

Basic Awareness Workshop in Child Welfare & Protection (SafeGuarding1)

  • Maximum of 2 persons per club per course.
  • Attendee must be over 18 years of age
  • Attendee must be a member of a Sports Club that is affiliated to a National Governing Body of Sport (NGB)

This is a 3 hour course, looking at how we can keep adults and young people safe and happy within the club environment.

This course is open to sports leaders, coaches, parents, children's officers and other adults involved in the organisation of sport for young people and are affiliated to a National Governing Body (NGB). This module will help to create and maintain a safe and fun environment for young people within the sports club or organisation. As well as undertaking child protection training, all governing bodies of sport and related organisations should adopt child protection policies and procedures as outlined in the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children's Sport.

NB: Please be aware that all GAA (Camogie, Hurling, Football, Handball) coaches can complete the Sport Ireland Safeguarding course, but will have to complete an additional online course to be recognised by the GAA. This online refresher will take no longer than one hour and coaches can complete this at https://learning.gaa.ie/safeguarding

However, if you attend a GAA safeguarding course then you will not have to complete the additional online course.

If you wish to book onto a GAA Safeguarding Course, please contact Eoin Breathnach 0879219345 eoin.breathnach.gda.waterford@gaa.ie
