About this event
Course Outline
All Coaches, Club Children’s Officers (CCO) and Designated Liaison Persons (DLP) must first complete the 3 hour Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Workshop. This workshop educates participants on the implementation of best practice in safeguarding the welfare of children involved in sport. This course is recommended for coaches, parents and volunteers involved with young people in sport. It is certified by Sport Ireland.
Course Aims
- To ensure adults have adequate training to protect the welfare of children in a sporting environment
- To assist in creating a child-centered environment within the sports club setting
- It provides introductory information on codes of conduct, bullying, recruitment, etc. as well as child protection guidelines.
Online Workshop
This course will be delivered online via the Zoom platform. Login details will be emailed to all participants in advance of the training. Zoom can be downloaded for free to your device from the following link: https://zoom.us/download
If you haven't used Zoom before, don't worry. We will explain the basic functions at the start of the workshop. Your Sport Ireland Certificate will be forwarded to you after the training.
