Safeguarding 2- Club Children’s Officer Course is essential training for those undertaking the role of Children's Officer within a club. Recommendations from Sport Ireland are that every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Children's Officer.
The Children's Officer role should be child centred in focus, and should have as its primary aim the establishment of a child centred ethos within the club. The CCO is the link between the children and the adults in the club and also takes responsibility for monitoring and reporting to the Club Management Committee on how club policy etc. impacts on children and their sports leaders. Those wishing to undertake the Club Children’s Officer course must have completed the Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness course and have a valid certificate.
