About this Event

"Mind Me Mind You": Nurturing ourselves and others for learning and life in higher education

Dr Eithne Hunt, is a State registered occupational therapist who has clinical, research and teaching expertise in the area of young peoples' health. She has 22 years' experience of working in the health and education sectors. She is an award-winning university lecturer who has developed innovative curricula on everyday activities and health.

At this workshop participants will:

  • be introduced to current scientific research and policies in relation to adolescent development and wellbeing, with particular attention to higher education contexts
  • develop mental health literacy
  • develop strategies to manage anxiety on a personal level and also with students
  • increase personal knowledge and skills in relation to time use (sleep, self-care, play & leisure, work) and well being
  • increase personal knowledge and skills in positive habits of mind (growth mindset, self-compassion, joy & gratitude)
  • experience some mindfulness techniques that can be used in daily life and with students
  • leave with a toolkit of 8 brief mindfulness practices that can be incorporated into everyday life.
