> Ensemble Dagda is Ireland’s newest Period Instrument Ensemble dedicated to bringing the past to life in chamber music. Founded in 2014 by emerging Irish baroque artists Caitríona O’Mahony and Norah O’Leary. With a variety of sounds, the ensemble mixes passionately expressive baroque sonatas and merry dance movements for strings and harpsichord with some of the most moving sacred and secular works for soprano with violins and continuo. Ensemble Dagda is comprised of young Irish musicians who have studied in countries including Finland, Germany, the Netherlands and the U.K. Different incarnations of the group have been invited to perform at the prestigious West Cork Chamber Music Festival and East Cork Early Music Festival. They have also given well received concerts in Cork, with focuses on works by women composers in the baroque period, and early Italian music.Ensemble Dagda are extremely active within the education sector and have just completed an extremely popular series of school workshops as part of the West Cork Music Tuning Up Series. They have upcoming performances in November at the Kaleidoscope Night series I Dublin and in March in Helsinki for the Encanto Festival.
