Description

Come and hear our panel talk about how they scaled their startup businesses. Hosted by Tempo on Wednesday, 18th July at the new WeWork in King's Cross.

With free drinks and snacks, you'll learn how to scale your company from those who've done it before:

+ Christian Owens (CEO of Paddle). Chris has taken Paddle from strength to strength. On his mission to make selling software easier and more efficient, Paddle is planning to grow from 40 employees to 100 by 2018. Undoubtedly, this will a fantastic opportunity to hear about the trials and tribulations of scaling from a founder that is in the thick of it!

+ Phill Burton (COO of Bloom & Wild). Phill scaled the flower delivery service from 12 employees to 61 in just three years. From raising a Series B to running a mass delivery service, Phill knows just how important it is to install process in your startup, and balance growth without sacrificing the quality of your service.

+ Carles Reina (VP of Operations at Tractable). Tractable develops proprietary artificial intelligence algorithms that can learn and perform visual tasks, just like humans. Carles knows that a deep tech startup is a very different kettle of fish to scale. Afterall, Tractable are trying to remove the human process! So how do you scale a tech team and culture so that they can collaborate efficiently?

+ Yannis Karagiannidis (Head of Growth at Monese). Monese is an innovative FinTech company disrupting the traditional offerings of a high street bank with its tech-centric approach. But how do you acquire users that are tied to their current bank with loans and mortgages? And how do you differentiate yourself from the numerous challenger banks? Yannis is the brains behind Monese's strategy...

+ Gemma Walker (Office Manager at Mettrr) Gemma joined Hive (the home innovation enterprise by British Gas) back in 2014, where she helped grow a team of 45 in one London office to 350 staff members spread over three offices in London and Cambridge, with 50 call centre agents in Glasgow and global counterparts in the US - so she knows a thing or two about scaling business! Now at Mettrr, Gemma is managing a team of 50 and taking the business through another swift growth period.

Moderated by Ben Chatfield (CEO of Tempo). Tempo is an intelligent, video based hiring platform disrupting the archaic recruitment industry. Ben will share his insight into what it takes to change the perceptions of an industry that has previously been apathetic towards tech and why startups should hire as quickly possible in order to scale.

"Each industry in a region should develop a playbook that expands and details the strategy and tactics of how to build a scalable startup." - Steve Blank
