Ballymaloe Grainstore hosts the Scarlet String Quartet for a concert of exquisite and virtuosic music to celebrate Spring and new beginnings
About this event
Ballymaloe Grainstore hosts the Scarlet String Quartet for a concert of exquisite and virtuosic music to celebrate warmer days and new beginnings. Performing sunlight filled music, including a rarely played and gorgeous composition by Frank Bridge; 'Idyll', Hungarian Dances by Brahms, Puccini's glorious Crisantemi, Florence Price's Adoration and beautiful favourites from Debussy and Ravel. The quartet's love of melody and passion in the music they play makes for a fulfilling and powerful performance.
Rory Allen of Ballymaloe Grainstore says, “We are carrying on the idea of an early evening Sunday concert and I am thrilled to welcome back Ilse de Ziah and her quartet to the Grainstore for this concert. They played a gorgeous concert at Christmas and are superb string players with a spirited and beautiful sound. Their music will certainly stir your spirits! There’s such a high level of talent in our local area and it’s great to have the support of the Cork County Council to present this concert.”
Put the date in your diary, bring a friend and treat yourself to a concert of moving, inspiring and warming music to get a Spring in your step!
Young musicians from the Corda Dulce violin group will open the concert.
