Get active! Get hunting! Gamify your exercise with our fun Foróige National Challenge!

About this event

The Scavenger Hunting challenge will involve completing a list of 25 clues/tasks and taking photo evidence to prove it! Complete the easy, medium and hard photo task rounds to be in with the chance of winning prizes!

Take part as team, with the activity suitable and fun for all ages. Carry out the challenge and tasks in the surrounding areas of your club.

The goal is for club members to have the craic outdoors, get active and explore their local area! The event will be open and played by all Foróige members nationally on the same weekend in the lead up to Christmas.

Participants can take part under the supervision of their adult Leader at a specific time over the 42 hours.

Get in the spirit, join other Foróige clubs in your province be wearing the designated colours (Leinster: Blue, Munster: Red, Connaught/Ulster: Green) and why not add some Christmas cheer with Santa hats and Christmas jumpers.

Prizes for the best dressed individual/team!

Registration closes 9pm on December 2nd.

1. How to take part

  • There are 25 photo evidence clues/tasks to be completed within your club area. Each task involves identifying a landmark, location or task and taking a photo as evidence. Most tasks can be completed absolutely anywhere. Some of the tasks will be Christmas themed.
  • The scavenger hunt can be undertaken as part of a team. Please follow COVID-19 guidelines. Adult leaders will supervise team activities.
  • Register online. 1 ticket per team, limit of 6 participants per team. More than 1 team per club is accepted. Registration closes 9pm Thursday 2nd December.
  • Registration of teams and its participants by adult Leaders only.
  • Participate in the competition anytime from Saturday December 4th to 6pm Sunday December 5th. Actual event times will be dictated by the Club Leader and should take an estimated 1.30-2hrs. The event should take place in daylight hours for safety and photos.
  • Task list can be completed in any order.
  • Submit your photos anytime before 6pm Sunday December 5th (can be completed by participants).
  • This is not a race to be finished first.
  • Easily and quickly share your photos with us in real time (details provided upon registration).
  • Use a free fitness app (i.e. Strava) to complete some tasks.
  • Share your progress online by using #ForóigeChallenge on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram. Follow us on @GetHuntingIRL.
  • Be in with the chance to win prizes for completing the easy, medium and hard rounds. A raffle will take place if there is a tie.
  • Wear the designated event colours for extra fun (Leinster: Blue, Munster: Red, Connaught/Ulster: Green)
  • Get in the Christmas spirit by wearing Santa hats or your favourite Christmas jumpers!
  • Complete as many or as little clues/tasks as you wish.

2. The role of Club and adult Leaders

  • Adult Leaders can run the the event anytime on Saturday and Sunday, provided all tasks are completed before Sunday 6pm.
  • The total event is estimated to take 1.30-2hrs.
  • Adult Leaders must supervise their own club participants.
  • Registration of teams and its participants by adult Leaders only.
  • Club leaders will receive a word document list of 35-50 clues/tasks on Tuesday November 30th.
  • Club leaders must select 25 that are most suitable to your club area.
  • Please share the list of 25 clues with the teams along with the submission number, at the commencement of your event hours.
  • Leaders will not be required to purchase any equipment or material to complete the challenge.

Terms & Conditions

  • This activity should be completed as a team.
  • We ask all participants to ensure that they strictly adhere to the government’s COVID-19 guidelines at all times while taking part in the event. All those participating in the event should ensure that their route is safe and that there are no hazards or risks.
  • Do not take part in any high-risk activities. All Scavenger Hunting Ireland participants take part at their own risk. Particular care should be taken by parents, guardians or participating adults to ensure the welfare and wellbeing of any children taking part in the hunts. Children must be supervised at all times.
  • Trained Foróige adult volunteers will supervise young people participating in this event as part of their normal Foróige activities.
  • You may not share, copy, reproduce, change, distribute, or create derivative works of our content or clue/task list.
  • You must take photo evidence of each task discovered.
  • Only submitted entries before the 6pm Sunday December 5th deadline will be accepted.
  • All tasks should be completed in public, you must not trespass onto private property.
  • You must take photos in person and during the duration of the event. Anyone who fabricates, photoshoped or copies someone else's photos will be eliminated from the competition.
  • If there is a tie for the amount of completed tasks, there will be a draw. The organisers decision will be final. There are also prizes for participation and best dressed team, which will be selected by the organisers.
  • If the event is cancelled, rescheduled or materially altered, we will use reasonable endeavours to notify you once we have received the relevant information and authorisation.
  • Pictures of this event will be used on Foróige and Scavenger Hunting Ireland social media channels for you to enjoy.
