SCI:COM is the largest science communications conference in Ireland, founded by UCD, and Whipsmart Media, supported by Science Foundation Ireland and partners. Now in its second year, the event is an exciting day of talks, panel discussions, brainstorming and networking. An unmissable event for anyone interested in the communication of science to any audience, SCI:COM welcomes a broad spectrum of delegates: teachers, researchers, event organisers, journalists, facilitators and policy advisors. Building on 250 registrants last year, we aim to welcome 450 in 2016.
LET’S NOT GO THERE – Issues in Science Communication
Last year, we looked at new horizons in Irish STEM communication. This year, we want to address STEM’s difficult issues head-on. From the challenge of engaging audiences in abstract concepts like big data and the semantic web to the controversy and silence that surrounds animal testing, SCI:COM 2016 will boldly go where no conference has gone before. Speakers will deliver presentations on successful case studies and interactive sessions will allow delegates to delve deeper into the issues.
