Event description

Description

Science Espressos are a series of talks running alongside the SPARKS exhibition at Science Gallery Dublin throughout January and February, offering visitors the chance to get up close and personal with experts representing different areas of health research.

The fifth talk in the series takes place at 6.30pm on Tuesday, 13th February and features Daniel Kelly, Professor of Tissue Engineering and Director of the Centre for Bioengineering in Trinity College Dublin. His talk will look at the hype and hope surrounding bioprinting.

The field of bioprinting promises a future where human tissues and organs are printed on demand to meet patient’s needs. This talk will introduce the field of bioprinting, explain what has been achieved so far, and speculate on what we can expect in the short- to medium-term. Examples will be provided from Daniel Kelly's lab, where they are using stem cells and bioprinting strategies to grow new bones and joints.

Please note: this talk will take place at the TBSI Knowledge Exchange, 152-160 Pearse Street, Dublin 2.
