Secondary Victimisation of rape
Event Information
About this Event
Secondary Victimisation, why blame the victim of a rape case?
The perpetrator of a crime is the only one to blame and yet society finds many ways of blaming the victim. In India massive protests started over rape cases and in Ireland the symbolic washing lines appeared in many places after the Galway rape case but yet society seems to keep blaming victims of rape. Why?
Why do we blame victims and for what reasons? Are there global trends to be discovered? These questions will be addressed during the panel dialogue.
