Event description
Two successful female entrepreneurs look at the impact of sustainable business approaches and shared learning for rural tourism businesses

About this event

This event looks at some of the development challenges for start-ups and early-stage entrepreneurs. Key themes include the challenges faced by female-led enterprises in rural areas, particularly in the areas of sustainable tourism business development. Raquel Naboa of 50 Shades Greener will share insights from her business development journey and will consider sustainable business models, while Catherine O’Grady Powers of Glen Keen Farm will share her enterprise journey and the importance of preserving, conserving and promoting cultural heritage, tourism and language.

The Inside-T project will also be featured. This is an online learning platform where networking, collaboration and sharing of good practices are present, and which seeks to promote intergenerational learning and the development of professional skills, especially amongst women, to develop sustainable tourism projects in low population density territories.

Participants will also receive an overview of W-Power a NPA funded project. W-Power works with women entrepreneurs in sparsely populated areas across Northern and Arctic communities, encouraging them to set-up, develop and grow their businesses. The project makes a difference for rural businesses by providing transnational learning and capacity building possibilities, but also creating new business concepts and support mechanisms. The project has also created many helpful tools and generated some interesting insights which will be conveyed on the day.
