Towards Large-scale Deepfake Detection
The School of Computer Science and Information Technology at University College Cork, the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, and the SFI Centre for Research Training in Artificial Intelligence, are delighted to host this seminar by Greg Tarr, winner of the BT Young Scientist & Technologist of the Year 2021, in which he will give an overview of his award winning project.
Abstract: A brief history of the field of AI, followed by a conceptual analysis of deepfake creation methods, and methods of detecting them. The seminar will touch upon some issues that arise when deploying machine learning at scale, as well as methods of solving them.
About the Speaker: Greg is an eighteen year old who attends Bandon Grammar School in Co. Cork. He has won 8 awards at BT Young Scientist: 6 for work in AI/ML including BT Young Scientist & Technologist of the Year 2021 as well as the Stripe, Bell Labs, and Intellectual Ventures special awards. He has worked as a software engineer for a datacenter and as an AI engineer implementing production ready systems.
Host: Barry O’Sullivan is a Professor in the School of Computer Science & Information Technology at University College Cork. He is founding director of the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at UCC and the SFI Centre for Research Training in Artificial Intelligence. Professor O’Sullivan is a Fellow and Past President of the European AI Association and Vice Chair of the European Commission’s High-Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence. He currently serves on the Executive Council of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence. He is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy.
