Event description
This painting workshop will consider shapes and spaces created by erosion of tidal forces.

About this Event

AGES 8 – 12

The theme for this workshop is shapes and spaces created by erosion of tidal forces. There will be a collection of sights, sounds, and objects from the sea to experience. Participants will experiment with making unexpected abstract painting marks in response to engaging the different senses in a variety of ways. These perceptions into paint responses can be collaged directly to design spontaneous abstract compositions. Using a combination of improvised painting tools the compositions can be made into individual paintings.

Elizabeth Archbold is a visual artist living and working in Dublin. She recently worked at Loughshinny Boathouse Artists’ Studio Residency where she was painting immersed in the coastal environment. Her work is concerned with how paintings are made and how everyday experience can transition into paint. Her practice is kindly supported through Fingal County Council Artists’ Support Scheme 2019. Archbold was a 2019/2020 artist in residence at RHA Wilton Park Studios, an IPUT/RHA initiative.

Booking is essential for all RHA Kids workshops through Eventbrite.

For more information please contact Róisín Bohan, Learning and Public Engagement Curator at engagement@rhagallery.ie or tel: 01 661 2558.

Generously supported by IPUT.
