Overview

A short, six-week introduction to sewing. You provide the fabric (and a machine, if you have one) and I provide the rest. For ages c12-99.

Have you ever wanted to know your way around a sewing machine, or how to thread a needle (and keep it threaded)? This is the course for you. A beginner-friendly short course in practical sewing, using both macine and hand sewing. You will make unique, beautiful, useful, practical things.

Bring your own fabric (I'll give you a list), and a machine if you have one, and I will provide the rest (and a machine if needed). (Materials for the first week are included in the price.)

The class sizes will be small - 3-4 max - which will allow for a lot of individual attention, and a cosy atmosphere.

Through making completed items for daily use, the course covers:

  • Setting up a machine
  • Uses of different basic machine stitches
  • Sewing a controlled straight line
  • Preventing and fixing mistakes
  • Controlled cutting
  • Inserting a zip
  • Basic hand stitches for finishing

Each booking date is the first of a six-week course.

The next course runs from 12:00-13:30 on Sundays on the following dates:

January 18, 25

February 1, 8, 15 & 22

There is free parking on site.

Price includes materials for the first week and booking site processing fee.
