Sharing Sensitive News with Parents Workshop

SPEAKER: Ann Halligan

DATE: Saturday 23rd November 2019

TIME: 12 noon - 2:00pm

VENUE: The Carnegie Court Hotel, Swords, Co Dublin

Ann Halligan has been working in Early Childhood Care and Education since 1995 as a practitioner, Childcare Manager and Trainer. She currently owns and manages her own Preschool ‘Curious Minds’ in Castlebar, Co Mayo.

Early Childcare educators who work with young children are often in a good position to notice delays in development or other at-risk indicators, and many educators find expressing their concerns to a parent or caregiver difficult. However, we have a duty of care to the children in our care to inform parents about these concerns so that positive next steps can be taken. This workshop will support you to reflect on the importance of having good relationships with parents and provide you with some new strategies to consider when sharing sensitive news with parents. This workshop will also address ways in which to present AIM Supports to parents in an understanding and supportive way to best support their child through the preschool years.

Please note: places are limited to 30 places per session (1 place per service) and you only need to attend one of the sessions. If you require further information please call the FCCC Office on (01) 485 1727
