Event description

Description

It is often the case that academics are not aware of the research potential of examining their own teaching and learning through, for example, a scholarship of teaching and learning approach. In this seminar, colleagues who have some expertise in SOTL and in national and international T&L networks and communities of practice will share what they know. The seminar will also focus on disseminating and publishing this work and will be of value both to those experienced in the field and those new to it.

Learning Objectives:
As a result of participating in the workshop participants will be able to:
Reflect on the role of the scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL) in professional development, particularly in the context of the Professional Development (PD) framework;
Identify how engaging in such scholarship of learning and teaching could provide professional publication opportunities,
Name and connect with national teaching and learning networks which support this scholarship,
Explore, and map, for a personal SOTL plan.
All learning outcomes are contextualised in Domain 3 of the PDF – Professional Communication and Dialogue in Teaching and Learning.

Presenters: Dr Alison Farrell, Maynooth University Dr Bernadette Brereton, Dundalk Institute of Technology, Saranne Magennis, Maynooth University and Editor, AISHE-J

Lunch will be provided. If you have any dietary requirements please contact morag.munro@mu.ie

The workshop will be preceded by the AGM for the All Ireland Society for Higher Education - all welcome.
