Join expert choral conductor and RIAM teacher Amy Ryan on this interactive, lively and varied course between January and April, which will use the Kodály concept to explore the following:
Pitching notes
Understanding rhythms
The power of harmony
Tips and tricks to sight read with confidence

HOW TO APPLY
This course is limited to 16 participants and applications are taken on a first come, first served basis.
AMY RYAN, TUTOR
Amy Ryan studied at the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy of Music, Hungary, earning a Master’s degree and Advanced Diploma (distinction) in Music Education and Choral Conducting respectively, studying under Peter Erdei and Dr. László Nemes. During her time at the Institute, she worked as teaching assistant and was awarded the “red diploma” for academic excellence. She completed her undergraduate degree at the CIT Cork School of Music.
Amy currently lectures in Music at Trinity College, Dublin and at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She is in demand as a choral conductor and workshop facilitator, directing the UCD Philharmonic Choir, Jubilate Choir, award-winning chamber choir, Cuore, and the Irish-language ladies choir, Cór Duibhlinne. Amy is also Assistant Director of St. Mary’s Pro-Cathedral Girls’ Choir, and has worked with such groups as the Irish Youth Choir, the Irish Youth Chamber Choir and Lyric Opera Chorus.
She has participated in masterclasses both in Ireland and abroad with Robert Houlihan, Doreen Rao, Ghislaine Morgan, Volker Hempfling and David Lawrence, and most recently served as a Conducting Fellow for the Yale School of Music Norfolk Chamber Music Festival 2017. Amy also sits on the committee of the Kodály Society of Ireland and regularly teaches Musicianship and Choral Conducting on its summer programmes.
