Description

This workshop will deal with understanding the difference between fatigue and sleepiness, and how to manage that element leading to a satisfactory outcome in preserving sleep.

The workshop will be delivered by Deirdre McSwiney, who has been working in the field of sleep medicine for over 20 years. As a sleep technologist she helped set up the Sleep Disorders Laboratory in the Mater Private Hospital and is also trained in cognitive behaviour therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). Finishing in the hospital, four years ago she now has set up her private practice and operates from two locations in Dublin. Patients can attend face-to face sessions or in a small group format. Management of the sleep issue is with the use of sleep diaries, validated questionnaires and some objective technological support. Deirdre is a member of the Irish and British Sleep Societies.
