Sligo Dark Tales


Join us as we explore Sligo's dark history on a walking tour revealing Sligo's turbulent past with stories of the undead, executions, jail-breaks, disease and other macabre tales.


  • On the tour discover Sligo's connection to Bram Stoker, the Irish author, best known for his 1897 Gothic novel Dracula.


  • The tragic history of Sligo Abbey that inspired W.B. Yeats.


  • Grim tales of crime and punishment in the nineteenth century.


  • Visit one of the oldest hostelries in the town and sample traditional Ale while your Guide recounts stories of the port, secret societies and houses of ill-repute.


Tour duration on average between 90 - 120 minutes.

Tour start time/end times: 7 pm - 9 pm

Meeting place: Next to the Riverside Hotel (at the entrance to the John Fallon Footbridge on the Riverside promenade) in Sligo Town.



NOTE: While the Friday and Saturday tours are open for all to join, pre-booking 24-hours in advance is required and a minimum of 4 required to run the tour.
