Event description

Description

Ever feel like you're on the hamster wheel of banana-level busyness, struggling to step off the treadmill of burnout? Your host Aoife McElwain invites you to take some respite from the cult of busyness by spending a day with her in the slow environment of The House, Galway on Sunday 22nd of April. Tickets are €55pp + booking, which includes a vegan lunch and access to the talks and the workshop.

This intimate afternoon will start with tea, coffee and talks at noon. Aoife will share her personal experience of recovering from burnout and the insights she collected in her book Slow at Work: How To Work Less, Achieve More and Regain Your Balance in an Always-On World. How has she shifted her mindset and priorities to cultivate a more sustainable approach to work?

We'll also hear from Mark Boyle aka The Moneyless Man who lives (mostly) without money and technology in a log cabin outside Galway. What can we learn from his experiences of living off grid?

Nutritional therapist Antoinette Witter will tell us about her work at The Happy Gut Clinic. Can a happy gut help us to build resilience against stress? Lunch will be a vegan feast hosted by Ard Bia Restaurant just a few minutes walk away.

After lunch, we'll return to The House for a basket-making demo with Hanna van Aelst who sees weaving as if a form of story-telling.

We'll finish by 5pm with some closing slow thoughts and share our ideas on how to capture even just a little bit of the power of slow in our days.
