smash - Mental Health First Responders Workshop

We are offering this workshop to all our IAPI agency member ‘HR / People Managers’. This training is being brought to you as an expansion of the smash EAP and aims to provide you with some practical training in the arena of Mental Wellbeing and how to take action with early warning signals.

Delivered by Marguerite Kiely, this workshop is designed to provide a useful introduction to mental health and aims at unpacking the term mental health, encouraging participants to view it from different perspectives and consider the impact of stigma and the costs of poor mental health on individuals, organizations and the broader society. The workshop will also provide a brief overview of some of the most common mental health issues – primarily focusing on anxiety and depression.

Additionally, the workshop reviews some of the early signs and symptoms of distress. The workshop focuses on discussing five vital considerations for supporting others with their mental health:

1. Active Listening, Non-Judgement and Validation
2. Collaborative Problem Solving
3. Signposting
4. Importance of Boundaries
5. Importance of Self-Care and Self-Compassion.
