We are looking forward to welcoming you at SOIL FEST on Thursday 5th Dec.
Please find below a preliminary programme for the event. You are welcome to come and go as you please. There will be art available to buy on the day too.
Programme:
15:00 – 15:15 - Opening ceremony.
15:15 – 15:30 – World Soil day and soil erosion theme – Dr. Sharon O’Rourke, UCD and SSSI

Dr. Anita McKeown
Anita is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, scholar and educator with research interests in Sustainability, Creative Placemaking and Open Source Culture and Technology. She is currently the SMARTlab NAISC Skellig Kerry Diaspora Network Fellow and since 2018 has been the principal investigator of CoDesRes, an EPA funded project localising the SDGs in education and rural community development. She is also the Design team lead on the EPA funded MARplas project Closing the Loop on Marine Plastic Waste; exploring community co-design for innovation and entrepreneurship in peripheral coastal communities. The project evolved out of a Bord Iscaigh Mhara funded project in South Kerry and is now working with communities in Do negal, Galway and Cork.
Cathy Reddy
Is an artist, who mainly works in the medium of relief printmaking. Lino printmaking is her favourite medium. Her work concerns the loss of agriculture, in Ireland. She aims to document and record the vanishing agricultural acts witnessed in the Irish landscape before they disappear forever. She appeared on Sky Arts Lanscape artist of the year 2019. Giulia Canevari
Giulia is an Italian artist from Milan, living on the West Coast of Clare, Ireland. She has lived in Ireland for 8 years and works all over Europe. Dr. Fanuel Laekemariam Aemero
Dr. Laekemariam Aemero is working as Associate Professor in the College of Agriculture at Wolaita Sodo University, Ethiopia. He is dean of graduate studies and has experience in teaching, research and working with rural communities in agriculture development projects. His research interest mainly includes soil conservation, soil fertility and plant nutrition, soil salinity and soil spatial analysis.
