Songbook – Exploring the Craft of Songwriting in Music with Hilary Woods & The Young Folk in Conversation with Emmet Condon and Cathy Davey in Association with Homebeat and the Dublin Book Festival
Songbook is a new series from the Irish Writers Centre and Homebeat that gets to the heart of songwriting. Hosts Emmet Condon and songwriter and musician Cathy Davey will be chatting to Hilary Woods about her inspirations, challenges and the art of honing her craft.
Hilary Woods’ ‘beguiling song-craft’ (Hotpress) is one suffused with hushed vocals, mood driven melodies and intimate atmospherics. Her EP ‘Night’ which was released this year is steeped in luscious sounds over compellingly simple beats.
Hilary will be joined on the panel by The Young Folk - a multi-faceted alt-folk four piece who have just released their debut album The Little Battle. Dubliner Magazine labelled them as 'a unique prospect' 'one of the most promising young Irish bands of recent years' (Eamon Carr).
Maverick Magazine awarded The Little Battle a four star review: 'quite simply, one of the most promising young bands to come out of Ireland in several decades, and this debut album is a fantastic calling card and opening gambit for the four lads'.
