Description

We are delighted to have Andy Irvine, Mick Blake and Dave Lordan/Bogman's Cannon join us for a festive, intimate evening of music and politics. Join us to celebrate our years' struggles and raise funds to continue them in 2017. Doors and refreshments from 7pm, Performance 8pm. All money raised will be put towards the Workers' Party's continued campaigns for public housing, decent work and the repeal of the 8th amendment in 2017.
Who's playing?
Andy Irvine has been hailed as “a tradition in himself”. Musician, singer and songwriter, Andy has maintained his highly individual performing skills throughout his 45-year career. From Sweeney’s Men in the mid 60s, to the enormous success of Planxty in the 70s and then from Patrick Street to Andy Irvine & Dónal Lunny’s Mozaik, Andy has been a world music pioneer and an icon for traditional music and musicians.

Mick Blake is a singer, songwriter, musician and activist from Co. Leitrim, who has risen to prominence through the songs and videos he has created about austerity in Ireland over the past decade. Most recently, his song 'Oblivious,' about the cracks and flaws in Ireland's political system, has been recorded by Christy Moore for his latest album 'Lily.' Mick will perform his songs accompanied on the night by videos of Ireland's struggle against austerity.

Dave Lordan is a renowned writer, teacher and editor and the first writer to have won all three of Ireland's national prizes for young poets. Necessary Fiction named him “the most intransigently indefinable, and indispensable, of contemporary writers”, while the Irish Times found his work to be “as brilliant on the page as it must surely be in performance”. He is the founder and editor of 'Bogman's Cannon."
