About this event

**We've had a line-up change for our Songwriters in the Round night ** with Pete Kavanagh now joining the lineup:

Gillian Tuite, Pete Kavanagh and Elena Duff come together for night of original music performed ‘in the round’ in The Vintage Room of the Workman’s Club on the 5th of November at 8pm.

Expect to hear contrasting vocals over a variety of original songs all topped off with guitar accompaniment from within this cosy and intimate venue.

About the performers:

Gillian Tuite

“One of the nicest voices you’re gonna hear anywhere” - Brian Lally, Country Time, RTE Radio 1

Gillian Tuite’s performances are typified by creative and tasteful guitar playing, strong vocal melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Travels from her home town of Oldcastle Meath to Nashville resulted in collaborations with renowned songwriters such as Fred Koller and Charlie McGettigan. Her music is regularly featured on the RTE Radio 1 Recommends playlist. Gillian is currently writing songs for her debut album, and is one of the Irish songwriters showcased on the album Ferguson's Farewell: An Irish Connection, which is out now.  https://www.gilliantuitemusic.com/

Elena Duff

“Elena lets her naturally soulful tone shine without needless embellishment” - Damian McCarney (Anglo Celt)

Singer songwriter Elena Duff’s deep bluesy voice weaves through her acoustic music with is broadly indie-folk in genre. From Dublin, now based in Cavan Elena’s music ranges from mesmeric to rhythm-driven, with lyrics touching on love and loss, the natural world and folklore. A finalist in the last Belfast Forestside +45 singer songwriter competition Elena also undertook an arts council-funded songwriting residency in Greece in 2020. She is currently working on her debut album. https://elenaduff.com/

Pete Kavanagh

“This is a powerful film for a powerful song and an important message. Musicians find immovable objects inside people's pain and this is an important work.” (Holly Csiga)

Pete Kavanagh is a singer-songwriter, a musician and storyteller from Co. Kildare, Ireland. His style is best described as Americana-infused folk. His sound invokes the vintage quality of his musical influences (Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, David Bowie and Tom Waits), but a contemporary feel that is unique to him surges through it.

He weaves dark themes in his songwriting, exploring psyche and despair of human nature while wryly holding onto hope for something better.

Pete's debut album 'Join Up the Dots' is released on Friday 5th of November.
