Event description

Description

To celebrate the very first Source To Sea Festival and journey on the River Lee, musicians, poets and dancers will perform a selection of their original works in the ancient, iconic oratory on the Lake in Gougaunne Barra, County Cork. Artist, film-maker and Source To Sea director Declan O'Mahony will introduce this environmental, educational and community engagement festival. The opening event will take place in the sacred oratory found at the source of the River Lee, yet is not a religious ceremony but an artistic celebration by wonderful Cork-based artists. These artists have donated their work to Source To Sea because they believe in the importance and preciousness of our water, air and soil. There is limited capacity for 50 people and tickets are FREE, however, in case you miss out on a ticket, we hope you will join the artists and other special guests for the first 'Source to Sea Session' afterwards in Cronin's Hotel from 3.30pm. The artists performing are as follows Wordsmith David Jackson; Cellist/composer Lea Miklòdy; Guitarists/composers Mick Hoey & Ari Sheehan, Rianóir; Choreographer Connie Jane Lovell; Singer-Songwriter Louis Cormack. To learn more about the performers and the festival story please visit the website, which will be updated as the festival progresses at https://www.sourcetosea.ie
