Sowing the Seeds of Reading: The Benefits of Introducing Books to Babies
Event Information
About this event
Early childhood lays a critical foundation for lifelong learning, as children develop the skills needed for success in school and beyond. This talk will focus on evidence from international and Irish research and baby book gifting schemes to provide insights into the benefits of early shared reading.
Research shows that beyond benefits for language and literacy development, there are also benefits for one-to-one bonding time too. It’s never too early to start reading!
Suitable for the general public, particularly parents, grandparents and families of young children, as well as early years practitioners, researchers and students.
Event hosted by the Department of Reflective Pedagogy & Early Childhood Studies and the Department of Psychology, Mary Immaculate College.
