Spinc Solstice Walk

Join our Winter Solstice Spinc Walk!

Date: 21st December, 2025

Time: 10.30am (please arrive 10-15 mins early to allow time to gear up)

Location: Glendalough Upper Lake Car Park, Glendalough, Co. Wicklow (€5 fee for the car park)

Join us for a fun and enjoyable walk on Winter's shortest day on Wicklow's beautiful Spinc trail!

This is a nice walk along varied terrain with uphill sections as we explore beautiful trails and enjoy the fresh air, while learning some more about the nature and history of the area.

Don’t miss this opportunity to get some exercise before the Christmas break. Lace up your hiking shoes or boots, pack some snacks, and get ready to hit the trail with us!

We will depart the Upper Lake Car Park at 10.30am following a short briefing so, would ask you please to arrive at least 10-15 minutes earlier to allow time to gear up, etc. (The car park opens at 8am.)There is a charge for the car park.

Total 4 hrs , 10km, 425m ascent.

The day will be led by Simon Holmes of Escape2Nature, an experienced walker and Mountaineering Ireland Lowland Leader. Simon will share insights on the route and the day will be an opportunity to enjoy fresh air, exercise, the area's heritage and nature, along with great views.

This walk starts and ends at Glendalough Upper Lake Car Park.

This guided walk is €35 per person. Places must be booked in advance.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

Waterproof gear

Walking boots or trail shoes ideally.

Walking poles if you use them

Lunch / Snacks and water / fruit drink and hot drink for a day walking

Hat / Spare Layers / Gloves

Sunscreen / Sunglasses

Any medication you may need

Charged phone

A small backpack to carry it in, ideally with dry bags or bin bag liner.
