Event description

Description

Food-I is a transformative centre that will drive diversification, transparency and sustainability in agriculture and the food industry. The Food-I Centre brings together world leaders in agri-food research and innovation to accelerate radical transitions towards a more environmentally and economically sustainable, transparent agri-food sector across the island of Ireland and beyond. The workshop will provide an overview of the goals of the centre and its’ four central research platforms:

  • One Planet (environmental sustainability of food production, including plant protein production and diversification)

  • Nutrition-Led Health (animal and human health and nutrition)

  • Transparency (pre-farm, at farm, processing, distribution, retail/food service)

  • Affecting behavioural change (farmers, processors, retailers, consumers)

Food-I will drive the 4th industrial revolution in the farming and food domains, achieving this through research that will drive the exploitation of digital, biological and physical innovations, with behavioural sciences as a core pillar of the centre to affect changes in food production and consumption.

The Food-I Centre will work in partnership with the food industry, government agencies, local and national organisations, and existing research centres to deliver targeted projects allied with these platforms.
