Choose different breakout sessions hosted by Industry experts and experienced start-up entrepreneurs, along with business consultants from South East BIC. Focusing on four of the most important stages of the development of a start-up, we have created this workshop with the innovative entrepreneur in mind, offering them the tools to commence their business planning and get started– and ultimately assisting entrepreneurs get investor-ready.

Idea Generation – hosted by Joe Fitzgerald, founder of the Idea Factory, a Waterford-based consultancy focused on idea generation and validation, the early stages of the innovation process. Joe spent over 10 years working in the areas of MIS and Business Intelligence with eircom, and his interest in understanding how ideas are developed and how innovation starts have lead him to study at Harvard and MIT where he is currently undertaking a certificate in Innovation and Strategy.
This session will assist entrepreneurs at the early stage of concept generation or SMEs who need to develop new ideas for expansion.
Business Modelling – hosted by Aidan Shine of South East BIC, along with Robbie Skuse, co-founder at Kollect.ie, which provides simple pay-as-you-go bin collection. Kollect has seen huge growth in its initial year trading. Robbie is heavily involved in the Irish Startup Scene, becoming Cork’s lead organiser for Startup Weekend and a European Facilitator. Robbie is also the organiser of Founder Friday; a monthly meet-up for entrepreneurs in Waterford.
This practical session will demonstrate how using the Business Model Canvas can assist with developing and describing a start-up’s value proposition, infrastructure, customers, and finances.

Market Validation – hosted by Brendan Cullen, founder of SurveyGuru, a market research and consultancy business based in Kilkenny. As an experienced and qualified project manager with an adaptable and pragmatic approach gleaned from 20+ years working in industry in Ireland, USA & UK, Brendan works with startups and SMEs to better understand their research needs, determine project goals and deliver actionable business solutions.
In this session, Brendan will show start-ups and SMEs the tools to validate their idea and their market.
Value Proposition Design – hosted by Rosemary Ward of South East BIC, along with Justin Kearns, co-founder & CEO of Tucr.io a disruptive payments platform for retail. Justin is an experienced trainer and mentor with a passion for innovation and all things start-up.
