Thinking of opening a business? You are going to need funding. Learn how to apply successfully apply within the Irish Startup Ecosystem.

About this Event

If you are thinking about embarking on a startup journey, you are going to need some funding.

It’s important to get your hands on cash quickly, not just for the business but to keep food on the table.

Startup support is strong within Ireland and you can actually pay yourself a wage whilst you put the idea together.

However, if you are not used to applying and knowing what is out there, it can be difficult to navigate and know what is expected by the funders.

This workshop will present all Irish funding options and teach you how to go about applying successfully.

From tech startup to food business, if you are serious about opening up a business, this workshop is for you. Why, well because it offers a helping hand and tries to show you the right move given your current situation and how to up the odds of getting a little cash into the business.

The workshop will go through state grants, funded entrepreneurial development programmes, micro financing and angel investors.

We will also run through how best to present your business idea to a funder in a written application and for when you meet face to face.

At the end of the event attendees will recieve all slides and notes and our host will schdule in a call with each of you to make sure that you are moving forward and answer any final questions you may have.

David Gardiner is the Senior Innovation Portfolio Manager at the Centre for Applied Data Analytics and Machine Intelligence (CeADAR). CeADAR is part funded by Enterprise Ireland and the IDA and is the national centre for applied data analytics and artificial intelligence.

Prior to being appointed as the Senior Innovation Portfolio Manager with CeADAR, David worked in the award winning Innovation and Knowledge Transfer office at Technological University Dublin. Whilst there, David set up and led Open Labs which created an external R&D facility for small firms, giving them access to more than 600 researchers and facilities in product prototyping, virtual reality, internet of things, data analysis for business and innovative surface coatings. David also co-founded both the virtual reality lab and rapid prototyping lab for Technological University Dublin.

David has considerable experience working with entrepreneurs and start-ups. He set up and ran Technological University Dublin’s student entrepreneurship programme, which focuses on developing TU Dublin students and alumni as entrepreneurs with the intention to create viable and sustainable businesses. David holds an MSc in Global Business, a Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Accounting & Finance, Postgraduate Diploma in International Business Development, Postgraduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Enterprise and has studied a Degree in Digital Technology, Design and Innovation.
