Terms and Conditions
1. To participate in the Busking Competition, buskers must register with Carlow Local Enterprise Office, O’Brien Road, Carlow by booking a place on Eventbrite or by calling 059-9129783. By entering the Competition, each busker agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions. Entry to the Competition is free. One Entry per busker is allowed. Please note on the day of performance in order to be judged you need to collect your Busker Sign & Location from Carlow Library from 10.00am-11.00am for the morning slot and from 12noon-1.00pm for the evening session.
2. For Individual Entries buskers must be over the age of 16 to be eligible for the competition or if under 16 supervised by a Guardian or Adult. Entries can be any age.
3. For the purposes of the Competition, ‘busking’ is defined as playing a musical instrument and/or singing, and other appropriate theatrical and visual forms as approved by the Festival for no payment or reward, other than donations from the public or prizes won.
4. The Festival reserves the right to accept, reject or refuse an entry at any time.
5. The Festival may vary the terms and conditions of this Competition at any time at its absolute discretion.
6. Buskers must follow all directions from Festival staff, including performing within the volume levels set by the Festival and within the timeframe and area on Tullow Street allocated. Buskers must collect their location plaque from Carlow Library between 10am-11am for Morning Sessions and by 1pm for evening sessions.
7. Buskers must be available on Saturdays from the 7th July 2018 to 1st September between 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm
8. Buskers must not use dangerous implements or materials as part of a performance.
9. Buskers must not use offensive language or perform in a way that may, in the Festival’s sole opinion, cause offence to the public.
10. Each week one winner will be chosen. At the end of week 8 a final selection will be done by public vote on social media.
11. The decision as to the winner is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
12. From the entries registered, a video will be taken by festival staff of each performance and the video of each weeks winner will uploaded on to Facebook.
13. The competition prize is a €50 voucher for each Saturday winner and a €500 voucher for the overall winner. The prize cannot be exchanged for cash.
14. Buskers agree to participate in any promotional, marketing and publicity activities by the Festival in relation to the Competition. Buskers also agree that the Festival may use their entry, any photographs of them taken at the Tullow Street Summer Retail Festival – Busking Competition and any personal details provided to the Festival for any promotional, marketing and publicity purposes of the Festival in any media without notice and without any fee being paid to them.
15. Buskers voluntarily undertake any risks associated with the Competition and release the Festival from any and all liability for damage, loss or injury, however caused, that they may suffer as a result of or arising from a breach of these terms and conditions or their participation in the Competition. Buskers acknowledge and agree that the Festival may plead this waiver and indemnity as a bar to any proceedings they may commence against all or any of them. Buskers agree to indemnify and keep indemnified the Tullow Street Summer Retail Festival against any liability, claim, demand, cost or damage they may incur as a result of or arising from, whether directly or indirectly, breach of these terms and conditions or their participation in the Competition.
