Event description
"This is a security announcement: Unattended stress will be cumulated and may be destructive." Here is what to do about it.

About this Event

What is there to do when you know you are stressed but have no time to address it?

You might feel stress is good for you, keeps you on your toes, motivated, driven, attentive, productive... yes, to some extent. But keep it up for long enough, and it will impact your system, whether you want it or not. The line is thin between "good stress" and "bad stress". As thin as a simple change in perception. On the negative side of stress lies unpleasant emotions, negative behaviours, loss of clarity of thinking, decline in performance, lack of creativity, health problems causing absenteeism, never mind the ultimate consequence: burnout. What impact does this have on a career?

You know there is a heap of techniques, activities, modalities that are amazingly good to de-stress and keep your batteries charged. Yet you do not engage with them because it takes time. Valuable time you do not have. Or you perceive not to have. Even though the benefits are certain, you just don't take the time. But we all know there is always time when we truly want, or need, to make it, so what gets in the way here? Stress itself. The sneaky beauty of stress is that it affects your perceptions and keeps you from doing the very things you know make you feel good.

So the vicious circle starts and if unaddressed unfortunately only ends when the body itself strikes back and makes you stop whether you want it or not.

If taking the time to address your stress seems even more daunting than stress itself, then wouldn't it be useful to know something to do to dis-engage from stress anytime you choose without needing to interrupt what you're doing? right in the middle of the very situation that stresses you out? Something that works even with your eyes open, while you're doing something else, while you're talking to someone, that no-one else but you notices?

Something you can do while stuck in traffic or squeezed in the subway, something you can do in the middle of a heated meeting or in the midst of a difficult conversation with a client, an employee, your boss, something you can do to deal with your next project's too fast approaching deadline...

Something you can do that stops stress in its tracks, in the very moment, and prevents its accumulation throughout the day, the week, the month, so you keep your sanity, you stay true to yourself, you don't get carried away with emotions that make you behave in poor ways, you keep your thinking straight, and your performance optimal? Something that allows you to keep functioning like you know you're able to?

There is such a thing and it is so bloody simple and effective you will hardly believe it. Actually, you are doing it already, but not consciously and productively yet.

In this workshop you will :

  • Understand how stress affects you, and how it does even when you're not feeling it.
  • Gain awareness around your own personal relationship with stress.
  • Learn how to control the seemingly uncontrollable physiological reaction to stress
  • Learn to reset your stress reaction to "Zero" anytime you need with one simple and effective technique
  • Visualise the effects of this technique on your physiology, in real time, on screen, via computerised biofeedback technology.

Your key take away:

What you will take away from this workshop is the understanding and the know-how to self regulate in the face of challenge and adversity, without the need to take time off or rely on external help.

Disclaimer:

The techniques, models and technologies demonstrated in these workshops are based on the work of the HeartMath Institute.
