Event description
The Practitioners Forum is an opportunity for staff & students involved with StudentSurvey.ie to meet & develop the project collectively.

About this Event

This one-day forum involves active and engaged examination of many aspects of StudentSurvey.ie, including student partnership, recognition of the impact of StudentSurvey.ie, communications, fieldwork, and data analysis. The Forum is followed by a reception, which all attendees are encouraged to attend.

All members of staff, faculty, management and students involved with StudentSurvey.ie are invited to attend. It is strongly recommended that all institutions are represented by at least one member of staff/ faculty/ management and at least one student/ student representative.

Practitioners Forum 2020: The Survey Cycle

In the rebrand of StudentSurvey.ie, we sought to emphasise the cyclical nature of the survey. Alongside encouraging students to take the survey, the analysis of the data and the achievement of impact on foot of student feedback are central to the StudentSurvey.ie lifecycle. The survey cycle is also the heart of the Practitioners Forum 2020 and will lead the themes of the event.

Morning Sessions

The results of the feedback survey completed by attendees of the Practitioners Forum 2019 indicated that attendees were strongly in favour of retaining the morning presentation format. They valued the contributions of their colleagues in other institutions and learning from their successful and unsuccessful experiences.

Topic 1: Make an Impact – what has StudentSurvey.ie ever done for you(r students)?

Topic 2: StudentSurvey.ie is everyone’s business

Breakout sessions

The results of the feedback survey indicated that the attendees of the Practitioners Forum 2019 were also strongly in favour of retaining the breakout session format. Participants enjoyed the active nature of the workshops, and that they could contribute their own experience and learn from others.

Session 1: Promote the Survey - What we say and how we say it

Session 2: Data analysis for impact

Opportunities for discussion

It is important that attendees have time and space for discussion, given that the goals of the StudentSurvey.ie Practitioners Forum include meeting colleagues working on StudentSurvey.ie in other institutions and forming new connections, or strengthening existing ones, and also forming communities of interest for aspects of StudentSurvey.ie. This will be facilitated by an extended coffee and registration period, a networking lunch, a discussion and consolidation session before closing remarks, and a casual reception following the conclusion of formal proceedings.
