Two Separate Workshops:
1. Bees (10am - 11.30am)
Students will learn about one of the most exciting pollinators out there: bees! Introduces students to the bees of Ireland and their importance for plants, biodiversity and humans. Discover the natural world around us which is just buzzing with biodiversity! What would it be like to be a bee? Learn about these amazing pollinators that are fundamental to the survival of millions of plants and crops every year, understand how they live and work and see what life would be living under the rule of a Queen Bee!
Activities include crafting a bee and hive from reused materials and playing a fun PowerPoint game to discover how bees contribute to our breakfast!
2. Space (12pm - 1.30pm)
The Rediscovery Centre's Space Workshop introduces students to the topic of space, investigating the universe, origins of the solar system, the planets and moons of our solar system and looking at space exploration. The workshop features a range of activities, including investigating meteor impacts, exploring the scale of the solar system, making a rocket and paper cup constellations during the workshop, and a post-workshop challenge where students can make a model Mars rover.
Both suitable for ages 5-12.
