This hike will start on the south side of the Galtees on a well worn track. Once off the track you are on open hillside with views opening up to show the wonderful landscape. When you reach the ridge, looking north, there are lovely views of the loughs far below you. The hard work is almost done and you will follow the ridge to the summit of Galtee Mór where you can take a much-deserved break and some summit photos. The aim is to be at or near the summit by sunset and to take a few minutes to relax and take in the beauty and serenity of your surroundings.
The return journey will be done in the dark so you will need a torch. Please bring some rain gear and warm clothes for when we stop at the summit. You will also need sturdy walking boots and a drink of water and some snacks.
The walk should take approx 4 hours depending on the group pace.
