Event description
A talk on how to support children who have a sibling with additional needs and what siblings would like parents and teachers to know

About this event

Siblings of children with additional needs travel the same road as their parents yet they have fewer opportunities to gain access to support. They experience many mixed emotions as they go through their childhood but often do not want to burden their parents with their own worries.

Liz Fitzpatrick (RGN & AMI Mont Ed) and Linda Foley (RGN & RSCN), founders of Sibshop Ireland, have been working with children with additional needs for many years and have a huge interest in sibling support. They believe siblings matter and deserve support. They are qualified Sibshop facilitators and Parents Plus facilitators.

This online session is aimed at parents, carers, teachers and other professionals working with children with a sibling with special needs, and will cover:

• The unique concerns and issues that siblings experience

• The positive outcomes of being a sibling

• How to support siblings throughout their childhood and onto Adulthood

• What happens at a Sibshop Workshop

• Books and Resource materials
