PLEASE SELECT YOUR COURSE WEEK BY STARTING DATE - EACH COURSE RUNS FOR 5 DAYS FROM MONDAY TO FRIDAY.

SYC Members:  Use your personal unlock code to make the Members Rates available for booking.  

On payment of your 2017 Subscription you should have received your personal code to unlock the Members only Tickets.  If you have not received your code, please contact the Membership Secretary and it will be emailed to you without delay.

Courses Offered:

Below is a list of the courses we offer to Junior Sailors.

“SYC Summer Sailing Camp”

  • An introduction to the thrill of sailing, No experience required, Bring a wetsuit, booties or old runners, a light waterproof jacket and a buoyancy aid.  This course is SYC Certified and does NOT form part of the ISA Small Boat Sailing Scheme.

ISA Level 1: “Start Sailing”

  • Introducing elements of all the skills you will need to become a competent sailor. No experience required. Bring a wetsuit, booties or old runners, a light waterproof jacket and a buoyancy aid. Learn the basics of sailing.

ISA Level 2: “Basic Skills”

  • Setting you up as an independent sailor. ISA Level 1 "Start Sailing" certificate required. No crewing experience necessary, but we encourage participation in club racing. Learn how to helm a sailing boat under close supervision from instructors + more. 
  • We strongly recommend this level is taken over two weeks

ISA Level 3: “Improving Skills”

  • Consolidating and practicing your sailing skills.  ISA Level 2 "Basic Skills" Certificate required. 15 Club races logged as crew OR 10 club races as Helm. Learn more advanced sailing skills, how to race etc.
  • Own boat or regular crewing spot required
  • We strongly recommend this level is taken over two weeks

ISA Level 4: “Advanced Boat Handling”

  • Introduction to dinghy racing at club level. ISA Level 3 "Improving Skills" Certificate required
  • 30 Club Races logged as Helm and 2 Regional Events*. (Bronze fleet regatta, westerns, nationals etc)
  • Own boat or regular crewing spot required
  • We strongly recommend this level is taken over two weeks

ISA Level 5: “Go Racing”

  • Improve your racing skills and learn advanced techniques. Learn how to win!
  • Own boat or regular crewing spot required
  • We strongly recommend this level is taken over two weeks

Equipment Needed:

You will need the folliwing equipment for the courses:

  • Buoyancy aid or Life Jacket (Limited number of buoyancy aids available)
  • Booties or old runners (Footwear must be worn at all times)
  • Wetsuit
  • Water/Wind proof jacket
  • Packed Lunch or (Hot food and tuck shop also available in club restaurant at lunch.)

All equipment is available from Sunset Sails, Adelaide St, Sligo or any good surfing/watersports shop.

Sligo Yacht Club

Originally formed in 1821, Sligo Yacht Club is home to enthusiastic sailors of all ages. We have strong Junior and Adult dinghy fleets, a growing competitive Cruiser class and great sail training courses. The Club has a long history of running many National and International regattas with a sheltered inner bay and arguably some of the most accessible sailing waters in the country. With sailing taking place 5 days a week April - October, we welcome all potential new members or visitors to come experience sailing in the Northwest of Ireland.
